Why even have this site? Practically no one uses it.... except for scammers. What a waste.
As I sat, checking craigslist listings, as I do almost everyday (you never know what you'll find) I came across one of the most horrifying pictures I have ever seen! A grown man - of large stature - RIDING a miniature horse! They are selling this little black & white mare and have posted pictures of this! For those who do not know horses, you should never put more that 20% of a horses weight on their back! An a poor miniature horse (that are really not meant for riding - these are not ponies and they are meant for companions or driving carts) who weighs 300 pounds should carry NO more than 60lbs. OUTRAGEOUS! INEXCUSABLE!
To see for yourself go to craigslist.org and look at the farm & ranch section for sale number: rh7k41363667514
A little over a year ago I took a seminar on Reconnective Healing. It's a type of energy healing similar to Reiki. There's a woman in Arizona that I want to study further with. She specializes in animal healing.
However, until I get a chance to go there, I'm interested in getting some "hands on" experience working with animals. I am looking for volunteers to work with. So far my only animal experience has been with my parrot, but since she didn't have anything needing healing.....
I'm not a substitute for a veterinarian, but if you have an animal that has been seen by a veterinarian and could use some help in getting better or speeding up the healing process, maybe I can help. As long as your animal can lie still for anywhere from 5-30 minutes I can work on them.
If you are interested or would like to know more, please email me and I can reply by email or call you.

BozemanPets was intended as a discussion board, not a "Give Away" or "For Sale" message board. If you want to be listed in the Business Directory you may contact the Chronicle to set that up.
All "Give Away" or "Sale" postings will be deleted and if the user persists with posting additional "Give Away" or "Sale" postings their user name will be banned. Thank you, BozemanPets
Since when is this site a classified ads bulletin board for scammers? You really need to come up with a way to deal with this problem. If you google "cheskobakayoko" you will see that he/she is posting animals on websites from British Columbia to Australia, to South of the border. Perhaps you could provide a "flag alert" option on all posts, so users of this website can police it themselves, and flag questionable posts for further review. Any thoughts??
How can the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter stay in business when they spread infections diseases to healthy animals?
My wife and I recently adopted a beautiful little kitten from the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter. It turns out that the little kitten, Flossy, was sick when she was brought to the shelter. A couple of days after we adopted Flossy, she started sneezing, coughing, and had a swollen and goopy eye. We called the shelter, and they gave us two medications. They also warned us that they had limited resources, so we would have to go to a veterinarian if the medications didn’t cure Flossy’s symptoms. A week later, Flossy was still sick, and our other cat, Little Boy, started showing the same symptoms. We went to the Veterinarian, recommended by the shelter, and were shocked to find out that Flossy had herpes and infected our otherwise healthy Little Boy. Not only were we upset about infecting our other cat but became even more alarmed when we found out this was a reoccurring issue with the...
Excuse me for a moment while I vent... I am so tired of hearing people saying "dogs need a fenced yard" or "you can't have a large dog in a condo; it's mean". Let me give all of those people a piece of my mind: I want to scream every time I hear someone say those things! IGNORANCE! You know the reason some people say that? It's because they think that they can just put the dog "out in the yard" and the dog will run around all day... they don't! They turn into ones like my neighbors have, barking and growling and jumping up on the fence everytime I am WALKING my dog to the park. Yes, we may live in a condo, but our pets probably get more attention than most children do! (Really, I pay more attention to my animals than my co-worker does with her "hairless" child). Just because a dog (of any size) has a fenced yard doesn't mean they are getting enough exercise mentally or physically. I personally think that most pet owners who don't have a fenced yard are more aware of the need for exercise for their furry...
People need to be aware there is a bill right now to BAN all pitbulls bulldogs and dogs that look like a cross of these. We already have laws against dangerous dogs. If we allow a state law to ban a breed of dogs or dogs that look a certain way will your dog be next? The first hearing will be on thur. "Speak" -up now for our friends who cant.

How do you feel about electric dog collars that keep your pet within its yard without a fence? Or how about electric fences? I've seen both work well but I'm not sure how Fido feels about it. Is it cruel or just practical?
All winners are in! The 12 photos to the left are the top-rated confirmed winning photos. They will appear in the 2009 Bozeman Pet Calendar. The calendar will be inserted in the Nov. 25 edition of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and be available for sale at the Chronicle office and at the Heart of the Valley animal shelter. JT Hessert gets off with a slap on the hand in the animal cruelty case. But with the ruleing Judge Holly Brown(the judge assinged to Hesserts case) Gave Betty Brown in her 3rd time Felony conviction of animal cruelty on seven horses. (2 days Jail time and $17000 paid back at $100 per month) I am not surprised the CA "cut a deal" At least no dogs will suffer at the Hands of JT HESSERT for the next two years.
Local Bozeman artists could design it.
Helena has one, Missoula yep got one...Where could it go? I think it would be fun...I would ride it on my lunch break while eating icecream.
Pets love unconditionally...they always seem ready to please. But are they in pain? How do we know? After a certain age should they be put to sleep? I think they just need extra attention and care if there are no sudden changes in their daily routines. Some people just seem quick to put their old friends to sleep.
It's entertaining to see pets at festivals, but 99% of the time they are not allowed. I don't usually see them as unruly as some of the people that attend them. We should have pets at festivals...it gives us something to talk about :o)
Has anyone ever been fined for not picking up their dog's poo? Someone call the Poo Police. Please pick up your poo...the world will be a better place.

Having a bad day? When I'm at work and someone brings in their pet... stress seems to be lifted away. Are there rules against bringing pets to work?
Pets are becoming if not already a huge part of peoples lives. We take them shopping, insure them, dress them, and spoil them rotten. They love us unconditionally in return. There was a turning point in my own family when my parents left for vacation and came back with gifts for the dogs and not us...I'm laughing now but at the time it was a bit strange. Could pets being part of the family go a little too far?
There is a Spay and Neuter clinic that happens once each month in both Gallatin and Park Counties.
Contact your veterinarian or the Humane Society to get more information about the next event. The recommended donation is $10 per spay/neuter. We took our cat, Pie, there a year ago and folks there were just wonderful. The surgeries are done by our local veterinarians.
My pets have always had interesting names... no Fluffy, Fido, Buddy, or Killer in MY house.
My pets have been named things like Ernestine (after my second grade teacher, and my teacher liked pigs), ThunderCat (because she looked like a storm cloud), Lightning (because that dog moved like molasses), Jake (because coon dogs ought to be named redneck names), Piegan (because he has black feet), Squeaky (because his meow-box didn't work when we first got him). My husband has had even more interesting names for his pets. He had a huge black lab named ShamRon, courtesy of his three-year-old son, who couldn't explain just why that was the dog's name. It just was. Another dog that belonged to my husband's son was called Diogi. (pronounced "dee-owe'-gee". CLB Jr asked his dad, "How do you spell 'dog'?" CLB Sr says to sonny, "D-O-G". "Okay, that's his name." "WHATS his name? "Diogi." Then, we had a yellow lab whose feet were just monstrous. He was named Keetso (pronounced "keht-sew") which means "big feet" in the Dine'...
Does anyone else feel self conscious about undressing in front of their animal? Especially if they are the opposite sex as you?? I know that is a really stupid phobia, but I can't get over it.
