Dogs at the Regional Park

In the future Gallatin County is proposing to construct a enclosed dog park at the Gallatin Regional Park. This change would mandate that any dogs outside the Dog Park would be on leash. Currently there are no requirements for keeping dogs on leash at the Gallatin Regional Park. I'd appreciate any comments on: Dog Park, Yes or No Size of Park needed Features needed inside the Dog Park.

I would be in favor of a fenced dog park. As far as size, the larger the better. I would really like to see a 'small dog' area with size restrictions (maybe under 25 or 30 pounds) fenced off from the general dog park. It seems like many people with large dogs don't socialize them with small dogs properly and so it can be dangerous for us small-dog owners to have them in dog parks with larger dogs. There is not currently a park that I am aware of in the Bozeman area with a separate area for small dogs. Another helpful item would be several 'poo' stations to make it easy for people to pick up after their dogs, I think people are more likely to clean up if there's a bag and can near to where they are in the park instead of on the other end.
