| This weekend I was able to have a couple of my friends look at him (both have bred and owned horses for 40+ years) and it is a type of eczema (skin fungus) that is easily treatable with anti-fungal spray. I picked up some MTG at Murdoch's and will be applying it everyday for the first week, then every other until it starts to clear up. In the meantime, I have to disinfect ALL my brushes, blankets, saddle pads, and any other thing that regularly touches my horse! :( Oh well... it's a good time to clean! If this isn't looking better by the weekend, I will be calling my vet. I'll keep you updated. :) | |

| So this fungus can spread by things that come in contact with it (brushes, saddle blankets, etc)? | ||

we used to see stuff very simliar to this on our horses in Oregon and if it is the same we called it rainrot and we would treat it with Listerine Mouthwash. would only show up on the back. make sure that you treat your saddle pads with the listerine as well. |

| Just wanted to say thank you for your help; that same week I applied the MTG that I bought... cleared it ALL up in less than 2 weeks! Love that stuff - but it smells like burnt wood. The listerine idea is very helpful too. :) | |
